Cabot Institute Public Lecture: Communicating climate - rethinking the role of scientists
Friday, March 1, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (GMT)
Bristol, United Kingdom
The climate system has been unusually stable during the last 12,000 years, and we have built our modern civilisation on this foundation. Human activity, leading to climate change, ocean acidification and sea level rise will likely destabilise this sensitive system.
Professor Chris Rapley, former head of the British Antarctic Survey and the Science Museum, will talk about:
- the challenges of communicating climate science
- risk and uncertainty
- the pitfalls of scientists as activists, and
- what we can learn from listening to public views of climate change.
This is a free public lecture and you must register for a ticket in order to attend.
